It's official! I will be leading a workshop for educators and parents of twice-exceptional learners about the many awesome possibilities of assistive technology! I am so excited!
At the time of this blog post publication, I am scheduled to present my workshop, "Assistive Technology for 2E Learners" at 9:45 am to 11:00 am in Room 105 at Cooper Union, 41 Cooper Square on Saturday, May 12, 2018. See schedule for Breakthroughs Conference here.
I will be discussing how to view assistive technology completely from the perspective of the 2e student from home to school and back. Different from what you see on the internet, I will do more than explain all the cool tools out there for the various difficulties our students face. That information is important and I'll cover that for sure, but what is even more critical are the various changes that are necessary at school and at home to allow kids to thrive with the use of assistive technology.
It's not Ritalin. Yes, it's very cool, but don't expect a huge jump in productivity overnight. That said, it is powerful and you need to be equipped with the right set of expectations to succeed. Come to my workshop and I'll show you what I mean! See you on May 12th!
